Candidate must be at least 17 years old (as on 31st December of the year of admission). Candidate must have cleared 10+2 with 50% marks with English.
The principal objective of this three year Diploma programme on General Nursing and Midwifery of Kalpana Institute of Nursing is to empower young men and women with minimum higher secondary qualification to pursue a professional career in nursing education. Upon completion of the course it is expected that the students would achieve the following:
Ability to apply knowledge from physical, biological, behavioural and medical sciences in providing nursing care to individuals, families and communities;
Ability to transfer understanding of life style and related factors that affect health of individuals and groups;
Ability to provide nursing care to recuperating, critically ill and terminally ill patients;
Develop skills of critical thinking in making decisions in handling difficult situations while giving care to patients;
Ability to grasp knowledge and skill in operating of the new generation medical equipments;
Ability to provide promotive, preventive and restorative health services in line with the National Health Policies and Programmes;
Acquire skill of effective communication with individuals and groups and members of health team in order to promote sustained interpersonal relationship and team spirit;
Acquire skill sets to teach individuals and groups in clinical/ community health settings;
Ability to participate effectively as member of a health team in health care delivery system;
Ability to demonstrate leadership and managerial skill in clinical/ community health settings;
Ability to conduct need based research studies in various settings and utilize the research findings to improve the quality of health care management system;
Develop awareness, interest for continual learning and skill development and thereby contribute towards development of self and the profession.
Career in Nursing
Trained nurses help people in every walk of life. Mostly, we see nurses working in hospital settings giving care to ill patients. However, from world wide experience, it is seen that in nursing, career can take many forms apart from working in a hospital, which includes work in doctor’s chambers, clinics, schools, prisons, corporate houses, insurance companies, home nursing, counselling amongst others. Nurses help individuals from before birth to the time of death, and even help family members cope with the loss of a loved one after death. Nurses are there for almost every imaginable situation involving the health or illness of a person.
After completion of Diploma level program, a competent student may pursue graduate, post-graduate and doctorate level courses in a variety of clinical and social disciplines.

The course curriculum is great and the faculty members are very
friendly they help a lot and guide us in a very good manner.
Placements from our college is average.almost 55% students get
placements in campus interview.others do not qualify in the
campus.some of our college teachers are the members of our
college placement cell.they try their best for every student's
placements.
My faculty right from the first semester took us for plenty of
visits to various hotels as well as to a food truck factory.
Well experienced and talented faculties are there in our
college.their way of teaching and devotion to study is
commendable.they want to give every student propers training and
teaching so that after passing out they can easily get their
desired job.
No i am not residing in the hostel, but the hostel here is
awesome , the rooms are provided on sharing basis and the rooms
are air-conditioned ,food provided in hostel is also very good.
Kalpana Institute of Nursing ,kolkata is a good institute for
engineering.i got admitted in the college this year ,the college
is having well equipped labs.
