The Nursing Institute has been set up in the vicinity of Durgapur to produce World Class Nursing Teachers, Nursing Administrators and Nursing Officers and to prepare professional nurses who would be able to deliver World Class Nursing care. Our Institute offers 60 seats each in B.SC Nursing and GNM.

Our principal , M.sc nursing, speciality at child health nursing has completed her both B.Sc and M.Sc nursing from govt college of nursing, Burdwan medical college and have several years of teaching experience. Our Campus

As for Ramadevi Nursing Institute, it has a marvellous building surrounded with good environment where the students get to breathe fresh air of nature. It has more than enough classrooms; all are soundproof and are equipped with modern technology to enhance learning. In our AV aids room, we have various electronic -devices for teaching and learning such as LCD projectors, VCR, Tape Recorder .We also have numerous teaching and demo materials.

Tie-Ups with Multiple Hospitals

Students will have the chance to gain clinical experience in one of Durgapur’s best hospitals. Vivekananda Hospital, our parent hospital, is conveniently located in the centre of the city and is reachable by all forms of transportation. It has working beds, an operable ICCU, well-equipped operating rooms with a labour room, a dialysis facility, a medium-sized laboratory, radiology, an on-site pharmacy, an ambulance service, and a canteen with wholesome food. Students will acquire exposure in a range of clinical specialties, including general medicine, where they can engage with actual patients in the ward and learn about intensive care unit situations. Preoperative and postoperative cases are part of general surgery. Students who study obstetrics and gynaecology may see caesarean section births, a branch of orthopaedics that treats common conditions, emergency cases, Polytrauma cases, ophthalmology and otorhinolaryngology cases which consists of pre-operative, post-operative cases.

Hostel

We provide for Excellent Hostel Facilities for girls. Proper facilities make the hostels a perfect place for the students to stay and prepare themselves for the future. Resident students are provided furnished accommodation comprising cot, chair, cupboard, internet Wi-Fi, etc. Each hostel is provided with independent dining area and common rooms, TV, etc. Hostel has indoor games facility. Hot and cold drinking water facility is provided in the hostel. Free transport facility is provided to students to reach college during weekdays. Transport

The College provides multiple facilities to the prospective students who are under the aegis of the task of nation building. Transport for daily commuting by the students from College to place of residence has been a great concern for the parents. The College provides free transportation to the students and staff from different locations with point pick up and drop facility. The College’s provision of transportation services will relieve students of the burden of taking public transportation or driving themselves to class. Transport facility is also used by the students for various educational activities like field visits, writing semester end final exams and school internships. The routes and pick up points are communicated to the students which is available with the College Office.

GNM (General Nursing & Midwifery)

Minimum Educational Qualification

The candidate must pass (10+2) exam in regular class mode with at least 40% marks in aggregate and 40% marks in English. Candidates passing (10+2) in Vocational Stream must be from Health Care Science.

Eligibility Age: Applicant's age must be at least 17 (Seventeen) years as on 31st December of the year. Only female candidates are eligible.

What is GNM Nursing?

GNM or General Nursing Midwifery is a Three and a half-year diploma course in the field of Nursing. Students, those who wish to pursue GNM diploma can proceed after passing their class 12 exam with any stream. The Three and a half-year course include six-months of mandatory internship. GNM diploma course is one of the sort out course can be considered as a stepping stone towards making a career in the Nursing field. Graduates of GNM diploma can start their career by working with government and private hospitals and clinics and other health units.

Objectives of GNM course

The principal objective of this three year Diploma programme on General Nursing and Midwifery of Rama Devi Nursing Institute is to empower young men and women with minimum higher secondary qualification to pursue a professional career in nursing education. Upon completion of the course it is expected that the students would achieve the following:

• Ability to apply knowledge from physical, biological, behavioural and medical sciences in providing nursing care to individuals, families and communities;
• Ability to transfer understanding of life style and related factors that affect health of individuals and groups;
• Ability to provide nursing care to recuperating, critically ill and terminally ill patients;
• Develop skills of critical thinking in making decisions in handling difficult situations while giving care to patients;

What is B.Sc. Nursing?

B. Sc. Nursing is a four-year undergraduate programme focused on developing critical care, advanced thinking skills, proficiency and values necessary for the practice of professional nursing and midwifery as mentioned in the National Health Policy 2002. Students will be able to meet the nation's, society's, and individuals' health demands thanks to the program's streamlining. By upholding moral principles and standards of behaviour at all times while carrying out personal, social, and professional obligations to advance national goals, the curriculum trains students to be responsible citizens. Students can get practical understanding of their studies through projects and assignments in the B. Sc. Nursing program's classroom instruction. The students must complete a six-month internship after the programme is through in order to gain experience in actual clinical settings and learn from them. Candidates seeking challenging professional prospects in the same field may pursue higher education.
