Jadavpur University is a State University founded on 24 December 1955 under the Jadavpur University Act (West Bengal Act XXXIII of 1955). Originating in the anti-colonial National Council of Education, Bengal (1906) to “achieve self-reliance through the empowerment of youth by imparting the best of global knowledge, technical education, and awareness of social, cultural, political, economic realities of the state, the nation and the world” the university has consistently set new frontiers in science, technology, humanities and social science innovation and outreach; it has provided research and policy support for state and national governments and international bodies, and conventional and non-conventional technological development for society at large, including both established industries and disadvantaged groups, through innovation and adaptation.
The National Council of Education, Bengal, was established in 1906 in the wake of the nationalist movement. It was led by intellectuals, statesmen and the middle-class intelligentsia, and its aim was to cultivate the best of global learning and technology in order to build a self-reliant industrial base for India. Bengal Technical Institute was among the educational institutions founded by NCE, Bengal. Its mission was to impart training to Indian students in the appropriate technology so that the country could produce indigenous consumable materials. This Institute, later renamed College of Engineering and Technology, was in turn converted to Jadavpur University in 1955. The founders believed that the Technology Faculty could not sustain itself without active Faculties of the Basic Sciences and the Humanities. While playing a vital role in technical education in the country, the University may be said to rest on three pillars-Technology, Science and Arts.

Through research, we strive to contribute significantly to the progress of science for improving the quality of our life and our environment. We also try hard to find solutions to certain problems of academic, industrial and societal importance. Through our research activities we provide quality training to the young research scholars and thus contribute towards human resource development.
Our faculty is already recognized for producing well-trained students and skilled researchers and, most importantly, for its outstanding contribution in research. Our vision is to excel further in both teaching and research.

Through education, we sincerely practice sharing knowledge, expertise, and principles with our students. We offer them scientific knowledge at the highest level, within the classroom and laboratories, as well as in the practical fields. The objective is to assist them in fulfilling their dreams by providing them a friendly learning environment that is based on diverse approaches. Our mission is to train our students in the best possible way so that they can leave our university as a batch of bright young citizens capable of shouldering responsibilities of the tomorrow’s world.

The course curriculum is great and the faculty members are very
friendly they help a lot and guide us in a very good manner.
Placements from our college is average.almost 55% students get
placements in campus interview.others do not qualify in the
campus.some of our college teachers are the members of our
college placement cell.they try their best for every student's
placements.
My faculty right from the first semester took us for plenty of
visits to various hotels as well as to a food truck factory.
Well experienced and talented faculties are there in our
college.their way of teaching and devotion to study is
commendable.they want to give every student propers training and
teaching so that after passing out they can easily get their
desired job.
No i am not residing in the hostel, but the hostel here is
awesome , the rooms are provided on sharing basis and the rooms
are air-conditioned ,food provided in hostel is also very good.

engineering.i got admitted in the college this year ,the college
is having well equipped labs.
